April 25 – Perfect Love Casts Out Fear
When we can reach beyond our fears to the One who loves us… even death will be unable to take our freedom. Henri Nouwen
Gregg’s Reflection
Scripture tells us that perfect love casts out fear. That’s not just poetic language—it’s a reality I’ve experienced in seasons when I dared to trust God’s presence more than my fear’s predictions. Fear can feel overwhelming, but it is never ultimate.
When I’ve stepped forward in trust, I’ve discovered that God meets me right there—in the uncertain place, on the narrow path, in the conversation I wanted to avoid. Fear begins to dissolve in the presence of a love that assures us we are not alone.
We may still feel fear, but we no longer have to obey it. Love frees us to act not from panic, but from peace. And in that peace, we can live the life God has prepared for us.
Scripture
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love.
1 John 4:18
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7
Ancient Quotes
Never let the future disturb you. You will meet it, if you have to, with the same weapons of reason which today arm you against the present.
Marcus Aurelius
Modern Quotes
When we can reach beyond our fears to the One who loves us… even death will be unable to take our freedom.
