August 4 – The Peace of Christ in Community

Gregg’s Reflection
Peace begins within, but it does not end there. The peace of Christ radiates outward, shaping our families, friendships, churches, and even workplaces. Jesus prayed that we might be one, not only in spirit but in how we live and relate to one another.
I have seen firsthand how a group grounded in Christ’s peace becomes a safe harbor. In such places, trust grows, forgiveness is practiced, and differences become opportunities for deeper unity instead of division. This is why Paul so often wrote about peace in his letters — he knew that Christian community could only flourish when rooted in the peace of Christ.
I think of our own journey in community: seasons of conflict, forgiveness, and healing, where the peace of Christ has been the glue that held us together. Peace is not the absence of disagreement, but the presence of Christ in the midst of it. When we let that peace flow through us, our communities reflect the Kingdom of God.
