September 1 – Christ Dwelling Within

Gregg’s Reflection
When I first heard Jesus say, “The kingdom of God is within you,” I struggled to believe it. Surely God’s reign was something external—something to be built, achieved, or attained. But over time I’ve learned that the journey inward reveals a deeper truth: Christ is already dwelling at the center of my being.
The mystics describe this movement as descending into the heart. It is not about stirring up emotions but about awakening to the indwelling presence of God. Here, in the hidden chamber of the soul, we encounter the One who has always been there, waiting patiently beneath all the noise and striving.
Living from this truth changes everything. If Christ dwells within me, then I no longer pray to reach for God “out there.” I pray to consent to God “in here.” The kingdom is not distant—it is as near as my own heartbeat.
